## New Legendaries

### Dragonflame Catalyst

- Wield the power of the Ender Dragon with this legendary staff!
- Hold Right Click to spray dragon’s breath on your enemies!
    - 3.5s duration, 24s cooldown
- Sneak and Right Click at the same time to summon a Rejuvenating Crystal.
    - Crystals will heal you and grant absorption so long as you are within range and have an unobstructed view of the crystal.
        - 4 crystal “charges” (think like the Freezing Chakram’s charges)
        - You cannot gain more than 8 absorption hearts from this ability.
        - Crystals will disappear after being destroyed by a player, or 2 seconds after healing the player’s absorption, or 20 seconds otherwise.
        - Crystals do not deal damage to players or terrain.

### Vampire Sabre

- Drain the lifeblood of enemy players with this haunted legendary!
- Base Light Netherite Sword, enchantable, anvilable
- Crafted with a Vampire’s Tooth, found in a new structure called the Manor.
- Melee enemy players and heal 12% of the damage dealt to them.
- Sneak and Right Click at the same time to transform into a bat!
    - You will be able to fly, but will take damage in sunlight and cannot use other abilities while transformed.
    - 60s cooldown
- Right Click to activate the Blood Siphon ability!
    - Your next attack steals 3 hunger and 2 hearts from your enemy.
    - 45s cooldown

### Sceptre of Arachne

- Harness the power of cobwebs and spiders with this throwable legendary!
- Base Light Netherite Sword, enchantable, anvilable
- Passive Ability: Hold the sceptre to be immune to cobwebs!
- Sneak and Left Click at the same time to empower the sceptre. The next throw will place several cobwebs where it lands and spawn small cave spider minions to chew at your prey.
    - Minions despawn after 8 seconds.
    - 45s cooldown
- 25% chance to spawn a cobweb on your opponent on a successful throw.

### Elder Eye of Possession

- Gaze upon your opponents to control their mind with this legendary helmet!
- Base Diamond Helmet, anvilable
- Sneak while staring at an opponent for 2.5s to take control of their body!
    - You inherit all their items and status conditions, but cannot move or consume items in their inventory.
    - Be careful: Your own body will be left behind and vulnerable to attack.
        - If you die in the body you possessed, your soul will return to your original body.
    - 12s duration (can be cancelled by sneaking for 1.5s!), 75s cooldown
- Additionally, attackers will take damage from thorns while you are sneaking and you will be protected for 50% of the attack’s damage.

### Sakura Tessen

- Fight players with this magical legendary to harness the strength of the sakura trees!
- Base Light Netherite Sword, enchantable, anvilable
- Melee players to charge the Petal Arc. Once the bar is full, the next 4 swings will shoot a petal blade to knock the wind out of your enemies!
    - The blade’s speed and damage are influenced by your movement. Make sure to move swiftly.
- Hold Right Click to push players away with the power of the wind!
    - 4s duration, 24s cooldown

## Custom Games

### New VIP Colors

- Two New VIP colors are available to custom game hosts!
    - Lemon-Lime gradient: Hosted 50 Custom Games.
    - Jade-Midnight gradient: Hosted 150 Custom Games.

### New Scenarios

- Hastey Boys: All tools are enchanted with Efficiency III and Unbreaking III.
- Safeloot: Dropped items from killing players can only be picked up by the killer / their team for a short period of time.
    - Also compatible with chests in Time Bomb.
- Timber: Breaking logs causes all attached logs to be broken as well.
- Backpacks: Teammates share a 27-slot chest inventory accessible through /backpack or /bp.
    - When the last player on a team dies, the items from the backpack will be dropped.
- Bleeding Sweats: When a player dies they will drop 1 diamond, 5 gold ingots, 16 arrows, and a piece of string in addition to their existing loot.
- No Clean: When you kill a player, you will receive 30 seconds of PvP protection unless you attack another player.
- Do Not Disturb: When the border reaches a certain point or deathmatch begins, hitting a player will lock you (and your team) in combat with the player (and their team) for 30 seconds, refreshing the timer on every hit.
- Friendly Fire: Teammates are able to attack each other.
    - Reminder: Sabotaging teammates is still against the rules.
- No Fall: Players won’t take fall damage (except to dripstone).
- Magnetism: Items dropped from mining blocks or killing mobs are instantly added to your inventory.
- Vein Miner: When mining an ore, the entire vein of ores will be mined at the same time.

## New Winning Challenges

- Challenges are a way for players to earn rewards and compete on a leaderboard to win the game with a specific playstyle!
- Challenges are available to all players and are automatically active when you join a Battle Royale / Civilizations game, but they cannot be completed in Custom Games.
- There is a reward for completing each individual challenge, and a reward for completing all challenges! The rewards can be claimed once per month and reset on the 1st of each month (except this coming June 1st)!
    - VIPs earn 5x gems from completing challenges.
- After completing all challenges and claiming the rewards for each, you will be awarded a challenge-exclusive cosmetic and 2 mystery crates!

## Balancing Changes

- Headhunter’s Chestpiece Enraged Ability:
    - Strength III → Strength II
- Crimson Chainsword Bleed Ability:
    - Damage & duration nerfed. Cooldown 35s → 45s

## Vanilla Maps v2

- Major changes to Forest biomes aimed at making combat a better experience (fewer trees, taller trunks).
- Significantly reduced the number of caves that are flooded with water. This should only happen when a cave is directly attached to a lake now.
- Increased the “flatness” of maps to provide a better combat experience.
- Added a new “Autumn” biome, similar to the one present in our old maps.
- Added Mushroom Fields biomes.
- Increased the rates of Pale Garden and Cherry Grove biomes.
- Reduced the rate of Dark Forest biomes.
- Heavily reduced the rate of Mangrove Swamp biomes. Standard Swamp biomes have mostly taken their place.

## Legacy Combat Roulette Royale Custom Games

- Custom Games with the Legacy Combat and Roulette Royale will be hosted automatically every 45 minutes.
- This will happen until the end of May.
- Games hosted between 6 AM and 4 PM GMT will be on EU servers, other games will be on NA.

## Fixes

- Fixed an issue where the Gulag would not close properly.
- Fixed an issue where the Headhunter’s Chestpiece’s rage bar was not visible.
- Fixed an issue where Roulette Royale (Tasks) were counting multiple times.
- Fixed an issue where players could duplicate their kit at the start of a game.
- Fixed issues in Legacy Combat custom games where axes were unintentionally strong.
- Patched methods of destroying Time Bomb chests.
- Fixed the Custom Game “Tip” item not working / disappearing in specific circumstances.
- Players should no longer be revived after the game completes.
- Fixed issues where language strings would occasionally not load.

# What To Expect!

Battle Royale just got more interesting with the introduction of **Challenges**, **5 new Legendaries**, **11 new Custom Game scenarios**, and more! 

# Challenges

**Challenges** are a new way to earn rewards and leaderboard placement by winning games in a specific playstyle. 

Completing a challenge will earn you Coins and Gems. Once you have finished all of the challenges, you will receive an **exclusive cosmetic** and **2 Mystery Crates**. 

Rewards reset on the **1st of each month**, minus **June 1st** this time around. Head to the Challenges guide in the Battle Royale lobby (right next to the Quests guide) to track your progress.

# What To Expect!

This is Hoplite’s largest update of the year, bringing the entire network to **1.21.8+**. This update introduces a limited-time **One Block Royale** queue, **five new Legendary Weapons**, many changes to **Battle Royale**, **Bedrock Crossplay** support, and so much more!

# One Block Royale

The **One Block Royale** queue is here for a limited time! Compete in a special version of **Battle Royale** against **60 players**, each playing on their own **One Block** island in the void. Mine your One Block to gear up, craft **Legendary Weapons**, and fight to be the last one standing.

Battle Royale Overhaul

# Bedrock Crossplay Beta

Starting today, Bedrock crossplay is now open on Hoplite!

Bedrock players can connect to `mc.hoplite.gg` to join! (Use default port: 19132)

This means you can now hop on Hoplite from just about any device you could think of!

You can also link your Java and Bedrock accounts together to join on the same profile from both platforms! Instructions at https://link.geysermc.org/.

Unlinked players will have a dot at the start of their username, otherwise their Java Edition username is used. (Not all bedrock players have a dot at the start of their name!)

Players on Bedrock Edition can’t use in-game voice chat, and won’t be able to join Competitive Duels for the time being. Sorry!

We’ll be monitoring player activity, and may make the decision to separate Java/Bedrock queues into their own games.

Since Bedrock is a new platform, we are expecting there to be issues. If you encounter any problems or unexpected behavior on Bedrock edition, please submit a ticket in our [Discord](https://discord.gg/hoplite) to report the bug!

# Battle Royale

## New One Block LTM

A new mode is dropping into custom games and as an LTM!

In this 60-player mode, you’ll start out surrounding the cornucopia. Loot up and drop down the center to be transported to your One Block!

Mine your One Block to generate more resources, and progress through the phases of the One Block! Right-click your One Block to view your phase progression and see what items are available. Don’t throw out your compass and recipe book just yet! There are special crafts and islands to explore.

After 15 minutes, the Cave Islands will spawn in where you can collect more ores, and meet-up with players.

Later, the End Islands will appear and unlock access to the end dimension and the dragon egg! The outer end is not open for business.

Soon enough, the border will shrink in and force players to fight to the death at mid.

## Second Chance & Vanilla Maps in Solo Games

The Second Chance scenario is now enabled by default in Solo Royale games.

- Players who die before Mining Phase will be respawned.

The default map type in Solo Royale has been changed to Vanilla maps.

## New Legendaries

### Chrono Sword

Turn back time with this new legendary sword!

- RIGHT CLICK to mark a position in time.
    - Players will be returned to the position after 7 seconds.
    - Initial Health and Location will be restored once the user is warped back in time.
    - Players can right-click again to return to their first position earlier.
    - 45 second cooldown*
- Death? Not a problem!
    - If the user dies during the ability, they will be saved from death and immediately restored to their original position.
    - Dying increases the cooldown time from 45 seconds to 90 seconds.
- Damage equivalent to Light Netherite Sword, enchantable.

### Magma Cannon

Enlist minions of fiery chaos to defeat your enemies!

- Normal Mode
    - Launch up to 4 small magma cubes towards your opponent.
    - Shot magma cubes will bounce up to 3 times and explode upon hitting a target.
    - Shot magma cubes will leave behind a fiery trail you wouldn’t want to step in!
    - Weapon reloads after all 4 magma cubes have been shot.
    - 24 second reload time.
- Super Magma Mode
    - LEFT CLICK while fully reloaded to toggle modes.
    - Launch a single, larger and more powerful magma cube.
    - The super magma cube will bounce up to 5 times and corrupt the world around it.
    - Weapon reloads in the same 24 seconds after firing.

### Eagle Eye Bow

Take aim and fire with the accuracy of a hawk to deal increased damage!

- While held in your main hand, embody the powers of an eagle!
    - +3 Safe Fall Distance
    - +80% Jump Strength
    - (A little stronger, but about equivalent to Jump Boost 2)
- Charging the bow while mid-air will cause the user to float with decreased gravity.
- Strike headshots with a fully charged shot to deal 150% damage!
    - Headshots will be indicated in chat and with a special sound effect.
- Enchanted with Power 3, and can be upgraded in an anvil.

### Freezing Chakram

A shuriken’s frozen brother, throw these chakram to freeze opponents in their tracks!

- RIGHT CLICK to throw a chakram in the direction you’re looking.
    - The chakram can deal damage twice in one throw: once as you throw it, and again as it returns.
    - When players are hit, they also experience a brief freezing effect, slowing them down.
    - The weapon has 4 charges, but each chakram reloads individually at 15 seconds each.
        - (If you were to deplete your charges, it would take a full 60 seconds to regain them all.)
- Damage equivalent to Light Netherite Sword, enchantable.
- This is a dual-wielded weapon, similar to the Wither Sickles.

### Headhunter’s Chestpiece

A wrathful force fills this legendary chestplate with rage!

- First ever *armor* legendary introduced to Hoplite BR!
- Wear the Headhunter’s Might to gain a passive Strength 1 effect.
- Melee other players, or take damage to build up **Rage**.
    - Once you are fully enraged, gain Strength 3 and Speed 1 effects for 15 seconds!
    - 120 second cooldown before you can build up rage again.
- Equivalent to Diamond Chestplate, enchanted with Protection 3.
    - Not upgradable in an anvil.

## New Utility Crafts

### Super Smelter’s Pickaxe

Diamond Pickaxe with the abilities of the Smelter’s Pickaxe, and limited vein-mining capabilities.

- Enchantments:
    - Efficiency 2
    - Unbreaking 1
- Can be crafted up to x4 per player.
- This craft will be useful for obtaining obsidian… more on that below.

### Crystallization Shard

Temporarily shields it’s users, and prevents knockback!

- After consumption, players will have these effects for 15 seconds:
    - Gain Resistance II
    - Have Anti-KB
- Can be crafted once per player.

## Gameplay Rebalancing

- Utility crafts for Obsidian, and Lucky Rod have been removed.
- Loot tables for the following have been reworked:
    - Ares Blessing
    - Supply Drop
    - Cornucopia Chests
    - Structure Loot

### Soul Gauntlet

- Clones will now spawn 2 times as fast.
- Clones will spawn 2 blocks further towards the direction you are looking.

### Midas Sword

- Gold Nugget drops when killing mobs has been adjusted from 3-5 → 1-3.
- You no longer receive gold drops from killing minions.

### Artemis Bow

- Enchants are now applied to homing arrows.

### Reaper Scythe

- Lifesteal ability buffed from 15% HP → 25% HP.
- Cooldown increased from 35s → 45s.

### Mjolnir

- Throw cooldown adjusted to start once Mjolnir returns to your inventory.
- A “placeholder item” will be in your inventory while the Mjolnir returns to you.

### Ghastly Whistle

- With the move to 1.21.8, the Ghastly Whistle now spawns a real, vanilla Happy Ghast!
    - This should solve issues with players experiencing buggy behavior when riding.
- The control scheme is now that of the vanilla Happy Ghast (look downwards to fly down, crouch to dismount).
- Your Happy Ghast will remain summoned as long as it is alive!
    - While not being ridden, the ghast will follow you like minions do currently.
- Dried Ghast has been added to Piglin Barter loot tables (about same chance as vanilla).

### Poseidon’s Trident

- Melee lightning ability has been removed.

### Beehive Blaster

- Must shoot a fully-charged shot to launch a beehive.

### Cloud Sword

- Movement speed buffed from 7.5% → 10%.

### Corrupted Crossbow

- Poison no longer affects teammates.
- Cooldown increased from 20s → 34s.

### Golem Hammer

- Cooldown decreased from 35s → 30s.

### Evoker Wand

- Evoker Wand must be fully charged while held to use its abilities.

### Sculkweaver’s Lantern

- Active time increased from 15s → 18s.
- Cooldown increased from 120s → 150s.

### Armadillo Detonator

- Damage dealt and explosion radius have been decreased.

### Magma Club

- Must perform a full swing to proc the chance to light opponents on fire.

## Legacy Combat Scenario

A new scenario has been added to custom games where it will mimic 1.8 PvP! Enjoy!

This setting has also been added to custom duels.

## Bug Fixes

- Poseidon’s Trident no longer disappears if your inventory is full when it returns.
- Mjolnir now always returns to your inventory instead of dropping on the ground.
- In the Time Bomb scenario, if a player dies in a Sculkweaver’s Lantern dome the time bomb will no longer disappear when the dome goes away.
- Fixed an issue where you could escape Gulag by throwing an ender pearl before dying.
- Fixed inconsistencies with some enchantable melee weapons not being able to be used in a grindstone.
- Unusable tipped arrows are now blocked from being obtained from fletchers.
- Fixed issues where invalid items could be placed inside the inventories of Soul Gauntlet, Emerald Blade.
- Lich Staff no longer breaks bedrock.
- Fixed an issue with PvP Delay scenario not working as intended in cornucopia games.
- Fixed an issue where players could become immortal in Lifesteal.
- Ribbit Reel now has a Legendary Pedestal recipe.
- Hoglins, Slimes, and Magma Cubes will no longer attack players wearing Skeleton Leggings.
- Bots and clones can now be repelled by the Barbed Rod without hooking them.
- Fixed issue where Lucky Block traps could not be escaped / broken out of in cornucopia.
- Fixed issue where Explosive Pickaxe could be used to bypass the potion crafting limit.
- Fixed issues where placed player heads could still be obtained as an item.
- Fixed instances where direct message and party commands could be used to nick-reveal players.
- Fixed instances where nicknamed players were revealed in-game and by the custom game Discord bot.

Hoplite Patch Notes - Nov. 29th, 2025

## Overview

Hoplite Champions returns on Sunday, July 6th at 3:00pm EST!

Eight teams of five creators will compete for a place in the finals, battling their way through the Group Stage and the Knockout Stage.

## Group Stage

In the group stage, all teams are split into two groups of four.

Each team will face the other teams in their group once, competing in a 5v5 round-robin format in a modified, fast-paced version of Civilization Royale.

At the end of this stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Knockout Stage.

Any ties will be decided first by kill differential, followed by head-to-head results.

## Knockout Stage

During the Knockout Stage, the top four teams compete in an elimination bracket.

The top team from each group will play against the runner-up from the opposite group.

Winners of the semi finals will move on to the finals, where one team will be crowned Hoplite Champions.

## Maps

The Hoplite Champions maps are split straight down the middle into two biomes, with teams spawning on their correlating sides of the cornucopia.

- The UHC kit has been added!

    - You can now claim Competitive Rewards for each competitive kit type you earn a rank in!

        - This change excludes Champion rewards, which are still earned by Champion being your final rank of the season.

- Hosting a custom game no longer allows Party Size to exceed Team Size to prevent unfair team placement in-game.

- Fixed issues where games would erroneously disconnect players.
- Fixed an issue where the Custom Games leaderboard would not update for some players.
- Fixed an issue where Death Note would cause legendaries to be removed from player’s inventories in Roulette Royale.

- Fixed an issue where your winstreak would continue even if you lost the game.
- Fixed issues where players would spawn in the void when teleporting to deathmatch if they’re riding a Happy Ghast or using the Phantom Rider ability.

- Fixed an issue where two people using Guardian Cannon simultaneously on the same target causes the target to receive no damage.
- Fixed an issue where Ribbit Reel pulls spectators.

- Fixed an issue where one of Gruntilda’s potions could be brewed manually.
- Fixed an issue where Gruntilda’s Oozing and Infestation potions would activate even when attacked by teammates.
- Fixed an issue where the Soul Gauntlet’s clones would not grant kill credit to the user.
- Fixed an issue where Tim the Enchanter could not upgrade pre-existing enchants.

## New Competitive Modes

May’s Competitive Duels season has ended, and we’ve swapped out 2v2 Roulette Royale for three different competitive modes: **2v2 Bridge**, **1v1 Roulette**, and **1v1 Axe**.

You’ll be able to compete in each duel mode to earn a division. At the end of the season you can claim your rewards from each competitive mode.

Each season, we’ll be changing up the types of duels that will be in competitive to keep things fresh.

The gulag is a new custom game scenario. Dying in a match will send you to the gulag, where you’ll face off in a 1v1 parkour duel against another deceased player. The first player to complete the parkour will be revived for a second chance.

# Battle Royale

## New Legendary Items

### Ghastly Whistle

- Players can find the Dried Ghast hidden in Soul Sand Valley Fossils.
    - Right-click to pick up the Dried Ghast.
- Right-click the Ghastly Whistle to summon the Happy Ghast!
    - Up to 4 players can ride the Happy Ghast at once.
    - Land on the ground to despawn the Happy Ghast.
    - The Happy Ghast has 2 rows of hearts.
    - Cooldown ranges between 10s - 120s depending on the health of the Ghast.
- Right-click the Ghastly Whistle while in flight to launch a Fireball.
    - 4 second cooldown.

### Ribbit Reel

- Players can pickup frogs with a water bucket to acquire a Bucket of Frog.
- Load and shoot the Ribbit Reel to launch a high-speed tongue, pulling back the first player in it’s path.
    - Players hit by the frog’s tongue will receive 3 seconds of Slowness 4.
    - 22 second cooldown.
- Jump on lilypads while holding the Ribbit Reel to launch yourself forwards.

### Soul Gauntlet

- Right-click to summon clones to fight for you!
- 2 clones are summoned by default
    - Shift+Right-click to add Player Heads which summon an additional clone for each unique head.
    - Heads in the Soul Gauntlet are not consumed by the ability.
    - Clones spawn with very low health, do not drop items, and will disappear after 15 seconds.
    - 45 second cooldown, +5 seconds for each additional head.
- Hold the Gauntlet in your offhand to gain +1 Armor.

### Death Note

- Crafting the Death Note will not announce the crafters name in chat.
- Right-click to write a player’s name in the Death Note, and steal a permanent heart from them.
    - Maximum 5 uses.
    - 60s cooldown.
- Shift+Right-click to inflict the curse of death on another player.
    - The target chosen to die 3 minutes after the ability is casted. They will then have one chance to guess who has the Death Note.
    - If the target guesses incorrectly, they will be eliminated.
    - If the target guesses correctly, they will not be eliminated.
    - Players will not be notified of who crafted the Death Note.
    - Kills using Death Note will not say the name of the player who killed them.

    - Easter Eggs contain valuable loot that can allow for different play-styles and set you up for the early game.
    - Easter Eggs will continue to spawn for the duration of April.
    - Collect 100 eggs over the month of April to receive a free mystery crate.

### Custom Game Changes

- Tickets now come in 3 variants.
    - Battle Pass Ticket - Awarded from battle pass, tips are disabled.
    - Golden Ticket - Purchased for 950 gems, tipping enabled.
    - Juggernaut Ticket - Purchased for 4750 gems, allows hosting of Juggernaut games.
- Players now receive an item which can be clicked to tip the host.
- Tips have been increased to award 1500 Coins to the host and 100 to the tipper.
- Purchasing a Custom Game no longer awards 50,000 Coins.

## Golden Food

- Golden Food can now be found in all structures.
    - Golden Food has a chance at replacing all food found in any structure.
    - Golden Food gives the player 2 hearts of absorbtion & regeneration when consumed.
    - Golden Food can not be obtained by killing mobs, farming crops, etc.

## Changes to Large Structures

- Fixed unwanted mechanics.
    - Removed player heads / unwanted blocks (Block of Diamond, Block of Gold, etc).
    - Decreased mob health / armor.
    - Mobs no longer drop player heads.
    - Loot table changes (Less legendary weapon key ingredients).
    - Less frequent mob spawning from spawners.
    - All structures now have an opportunity to spawn.
    - Increased structure spacing and separation (spawn frequency).

## Changes

- Structures from ‘Large Map and Modded Structures’ have been added to Battle Royale
- Added leaderboards for Ranks Gifted and Custom Games Hosted.
- Artemis Bow homing chance increased from 20% → 30%.
- Enderbow now requires a fully-charged arrow to spawn an Endermite.
- Crimson Chainsword now requires a fully-charged swing to use the Bleeding ability.
- Pufferfish Cannon range has been reduced and the cooldown has been increased from 20s → 25s.
- Gunpowder spawn frequency has been reduced in Structures.
- Ender Pearls will spawn less often in Cornucopia and Structure chests.
- Flame now requires 32 Emeralds to trade from villagers.
- Multishot now requires 48 Emeralds to trade from villagers.

## What To Expect

As teased previously, we’ve moved away from the "season format" on Hoplite, and with this change, we’re thrilled to introduce the brand-new Battle Pass! This new system is packed with 100 rewards, offering two passes: a FREE Pass and a VIP Pass.

## How It Works

This Battle Pass is designed to be a long-term experience, with no plans for a new one to release for a very long time. Unlike previous passes tied to seasons, this one allows you to progress at your own pace and fully enjoy its content over an extended period.

The rewards include a mix of cosmetics like hats, gliders, and effects, as well as new additions such as custom game tickets, pets, and other cosmetics.

All players can earn FREE Pass XP and unlock rewards. However, only players with a VIP Rank can earn VIP Pass XP and access the exclusive VIP rewards.

- Kim the Transmuter has been reworked.

# Battle Royale

## Changes

- Solo and Civilization games will now use the Hunger Games Start instead of Dragon Scatter.
    - Players will be spawned in pods around one of 4 Cornucopias at 0, 0.
    - PvP will be enabled for the first 2 minutes of the game, disabled once Mining Phase begins, which lasts 10 minutes.
- All structures have been reverted from their Halloween variants.
- The recipes for the Shrink Ray and Corrupted Crossbow have been adjusted, making them easier to craft.
- Each game will now include 3 Monuments in the ocean.
- Mjolnir and Pufferfish cannon have been removed from Bowless games.
- Roulette Royale is now compatible with Hunger Games Start games.
- Hunger Games Start custom games can now be hosted with the Civilization team size.
- All legendaries now have upgraded versions for the Legendary Pedestals scenario, which is now accurately displayed in their lore.
    - Most Sword legendaries start with 10 Attack Damage (8.5 base + Sharpness 2).
    - Bow legendaries start with Power 4.
    - Crossbow legendaries start with Quick Charge 2.
    - Other legendaries have buffs to their cooldowns, charges, and other values.  These numbers are displayed in white in their lore.
- Hypnosis Staff
    - Players can hypnotize a maximum of 3 Iron Golems.
    - Hypnotized Iron Golems can no longer be healed using Iron Ingots.
    - Iron Golems will no longer freeze when hypnotized while chasing a target.
    - Mobs will now be fully healed when hypnotized.
    - The health of mobs with less than 50 hearts will be tripled (15 heart minimum, 50 heart maximum)
    - Using the ability on a hypnotized mob will now heal it for 10 hearts.

## Fixes

- Fixed instances where Pods would not open correctly, leaving players stuck inside glass.
- Kings Crown will no longer grant excessive max health when combined with Health Boost.
- Fixed an issue causing Monuments to sometimes not spawn.
- Roulette Royale will no longer exclude some legendaries.
- Roulette Royale will now properly give players a new legendary weapon after a kill.
- Enderbow no longer deals damage when using the teleport ability.
- Fixed some legendaries giving attack damage while in the offhand.

- Bots will spawn around players during the game and will behave like real players, their loot is based on what other players have in the current game.

    - Right-click to curse the blade, making your next attack cause bleeding damage (3 hearts over 1.5 seconds)
    - Killing players grants **Strength II** for 15 seconds
    - Deals 1.5x damage to enemies below 30% health
    - Ability has a 30-second cooldown

## Bots

- You can duel against the Battle Royale PvP bots with standard and custom kits
- Use them to practice PvP or test custom kits without a real player

## Changes

- Casual 2v2 duels have been re-added
- Casual duels are now a single NPC and function like custom duels
    - Duels are “hosted” when players join a queue, and NPCs will spawn allowing other players to join
- Added “Play Random Kit” post-match item in casual duels
    - Allows you to rejoin another casual duel with a random kit
- New legendaries have been added to custom kits and Roulette Royale
- Competitive matchmaking algorithm has been improved to create more fair matchups

## Cornucopia Update!

For a limited time, Battle Royale games will replace the Dragon Scatter with the Hunger Games start! Players begin in pods around the center cornucopia, where PvP is enabled for the first 2 minutes, allowing you to either grab loot or make a quick escape. After 2 minutes, a grace period begins as the mining phase activates.

November Update!

# A year in Review

October 14th marks **one year of Hoplite!**

First off, we’d like to thank you, our community, for an amazing first year of Hoplite. We have so much in store for the future of Hoplite, and many cool things we’ve been working on behind the scenes that we can’t wait to share with you. 

Our plans for Hoplite are changing as we focus on adding new gamemodes and hosting more fun creator events. Read more below!

# October 1st: Battle Royale Update!

On October 1st, we’ll be updating Battle Royale. Be sure to tune into the update video on September 30th to learn about everything new coming to the server, from our week-long birthday celebration, to new custom game scenarios! 

The heavily anticipated "Mega Royale" mode will also be coming on October 1st, with some improvements. Mega Royale will become a toggle-able feature in custom games (see image below), meaning Mega Royale games can be scheduled many times throughout the day.

This update may look a bit different to what you’re used to, as we’ll be moving to an “update” format for all gamemodes on the network. Read more about this under “Future Plans for Hoplite”.

# Twitchcon

Our current work-in-progress project was revealed at our booth at Twitchcon San Diego this past week. Thanks so much to everyone who visited the booth and tried our teaser demo!

The project will first take place as a big creator event, which will be a **survival zombies game with factions elements**. After the event takes place, it will be **turned into a gamemode** that everyone can play. We are extremely excited to reveal more details to you as the project nears completion!

# Future Plans for Hoplite

Going into the second year of Hoplite, we’ll be moving to an “update” format for all games on the network. This means that we will no longer use the “Season” format for Battle Royale, and live reveals will no longer happen in the current format. Additionally, legendaries will no longer be paired with seasons, and will be added on a non-scheduled basis.

Doing so will allow us to expand the network and add more pvp gamemodes, host creator events, and much more. We will still update Battle Royale when needed, but are happy with the state of content in the game after 1 year of frequent updates. We're extremely passionate about pvp gamemodes and are confident you'll enjoy what we have planned next!

Also coming with this change will be a permanent Battle pass, which should arrive at the end of 2024. The permanent battle pass will have all the regular battle pass items (hats, gliders, effects) and MORE, such as custom game tickets, pets, and coins. This also means that the Battle Pass releasing on October 1st will be the very last Battle Pass in this format, so be sure to unlock everything while you can!

# Hoplite is Heading to Twitchcon!

We're coming to Twitchcon San Diego! From **September 20th to the 22nd**, you can visit us at **Booth 1800** and check out what we've been working on, and meet the team behind Hoplite.

Hoplite is heading to Twitchcon!

### Tomorrow (Friday, September 6th) we will be updating to 1.21.1!

This means that if you try joining the server in an outdated version, you will be put in limbo and asked to rejoin on the correct version. There will be down-time tomorrow as we push the update, which you will be notified of in game and in #server-status on our Discord server.

 

Fully moving to 1.21.1 will resolve issues that arose for players on 1.21 when we were running natively on 1.20.6. This issues include:

- Lava & Water bucket desync
- Specific server disconnects related to 1.20.6

# Duels 1.4
## Competitive Duels
- 10 players will be placed into a draft, where the top 2 players will select teammates in a snake draft.
- The match is a best of 3 using the Battle Royale kit.
- Players must complete 10 placement matches to receive their initial rank.
- The MVP (player who dealt most damage) will receive a bonus to their ranked progress.
- Every rank has unique rewards which can be viewed in the Rewards section of the shop, and will be awarded at the end of the season.
- Dodging or leaving multiple matches in a day will result in a queue ban and loss of rating.

## General Changes
- Damage dealt will be shown after matches.

- Bridge and Parkour are now usable in custom kits.

### Custom Kit Settings
- You can now add custom permanent potion effects to custom kits.
- Friendly Fire (also applies to explosives).
- Explosives Auto Ignition: This setting applies to creepers and TNT instantly igniting upon being placed down.
- Ender Pearl Cooldown.
- Border Shrink Time.

# Battle Royale 1.7

## General Changes
- The Archer kit now receives arrows instead of feathers.
- Ghasts will always drop a Ghast Tear.
- Blazes will always drop a Blaze Rod.
- Raised the amount of gold blocks replaced in Bastions from 60 -> 70%.
- All Iron armor now has +2 Toughness.
- Monuments now spawn in the ocean near the border in 50% of games.
 - Elder Guardian mining fatigue range reduced from 50 -> 25 blocks.
- Horse packs are 75% less likely to spawn.
- All Deathmatch chests will now contain exactly 1 Golden Apple.
- All Chests now have a small chance to contain a Slime Ball.
- Empty Buckets are no longer stackable.
- Fixed some blocks such as Netherrack and Glass not decaying in deathmatch.
- Eyes of Ender will no longer break when thrown.
- Added an extra 30 seconds at the end of games before the server restarts.
 - +100% Spread Effectiveness

- All players will receive max level perks, which will grant the following:
 - 10 seconds of haste when mining ores.
 - 15% XP Boost
 - Absorption IV for 15 minutes.
 - 15 seconds of speed when consuming a head.
 - 27 Nuggets per kill
 - 15 minutes of Saturation.
- All players will receive a 100% refund for coins spent on perks.

## Item Changes
- Mace damage capped to 15 hearts.
- Hypnosis Staff limited to 1 Warden per team.
- Skeleton Leggings no longer affect mobs controlled or spawned by players.
- Dragon Katana no longer requires end stone to craft.
- Shadow Blade buffed from 7 -> 7.5 damage.
- Shadow Blade will no longer be cancelled by arrows shot by allies.
- Axolotl Boots now have Protection 1 and a cheaper recipe.
- Blazing Crossbow no longer requires a head.
- Panacea can now be crafted with any 4 Tulips regardless of color.

## New Items
### Barbed Rod
- A Fishing Rod that knocks players back on hit instead of pulling them.
- 75 Durability which lowers when hitting enemies.
### Corrupted Crossbow
- A Crossbow which fires 3 poisonus arrows in rapid succession.
- If arrows collide with a block, they will start to decay blocks in a large radius.
- 20s Cooldown.
### Harpoon Launcher
- If the harpoon collides with a player, the player is damaged and rapidly pulled towards you.
- If the harpoon collides with a block, you are rapidly pulled towards the block.
- You can shift while being pulled to cancel it.
- 12s Cooldown.
### Guardian Cannon
- Pull back to begin charging for 2s. Being damaged during this time will cancel the charge.
- Once the charge is complete, a beam will fire and damage any player or block in its path.
- 30s Cooldown.
- Use while in water to shoot 2 guardians forwards, and blast yourself backwards.
- 25s Cooldown
- Hold while swimming to gain Dolphins Grace.
### Cloud Sword
- 7.5 Damage, 1.6 Attack Speed, +7.5% Movement Speed, -100% Fall Damage while in main hand.
- Right click to start summoning clouds below your feet for up to 10 seconds.
- Right click to toggle this effect on and off during the duration.
- 30s Cooldown

# Cosmetics
Starting today, the Valentines day crate is no longer available, and is replaced with the Deep Dark Crate. This crate features all new deep dark inspired cosmetics, including the new Baby Warden Pet and Warden Armor Trim. This new crate will be available for the remainder of the season. (until April 1st)

# All Games

- Added Animated xp bars to display your level progress after death or victory, replacing the previous chat messages.
- Fixed a bug where Miner Hat and Warrior Helmet could not be Tier Boosted.
We've also fixed numerous common issues with the anticheat:
- Fixed a bug where players would teleport to the ground or get stuck while being affected by the levitation potion effect.
- Fixed a bug where players could not sprint while riding a Camel.
- Fixed a bug where players would get stuck in boats after exiting them.

# Battle Royale

- Increased XP per kill to 20 (was 10).
- Increased XP per assist to 10 (was 5).
- Increased players needed for Solo to automatically start during offpeak hours to 40 players (was 30).
- Increased Solos / Duos world border to 1200x (was 800x).
- Players are now spread across 8 Dragons in Solos / duos (was 4).
- Added Glistering Melons to Nether Fortress chests.
- Trapper class now has +1 Observer added at every level.
- Trapper class perk no longer duplicates crafting tables.
- Trapper class now receives grass blocks and honey blocks.
- Removed Vanilla honey bottle from honey block recipe.
- Second deathmatch border shrink phase now begins after 2.5 minutes (was 5)
- Fixed a bug where Archer's perk would activate from bow shots that were not fully charged.
- Fixed a bug where the Rewards Summary would sometimes show incorrect coin values.
- Fixed a bug with Tim the Enchanter where Axe's would receive Sword enchantments.
- Fixed a bug where Ancient City loot was not properly randomized in solo and duos.
- Fixed a bug where players matchmaking penalties would not decrease after waiting 15 minutes.

# Duels

- Increased overall XP gain when winning/losing
- Added ability to send a rematch request to players at the end of a match
- Increased distance between players when they spawn.
- Removed overall duels level.
- The level progress seen in the duels lobby scoreboard now uses your currently selected kit.
- Reformatted scoreboards across all types of duels matches.
Custom kits now have some item / kit preset restrictions in order to make custom kit queues more fun to play:
- Parkour Duels and Bridge Duels kit presets can no longer be publicly queued as public matches. They can still be created, and used in private games.
- Non-vip players can now only host 1v1 and 2v2 custom kits. 3v3 now requires VIP to host.
- Non-vip players can now only add 1 Legendary weapon to their kits. Tim the Enchanter is excluded from this. 
- Fixed a bug where team colors and health not being displayed for spectators.
- Fixed a bug where enchanted books in custom kits would not have working enchantments. 
- Fixed a bug where Aiglos would show bow enchantments in the custom kit enchantment selector.
- Fixed uneven block placement regions in some Bridge maps.

Season 3 Mid-Season Patch

As Hoplite goes down for maintenance, let's take some time to explore everything new coming in Hoplite Season 3.

# Rule Changes

To kick this off, let's go through some quick rule changes being added this season:
- Loot Beams is now a Blacklisted Modification, this includes similar mods that display a "beam" or nametag over dropped items and entities.
- Revealing the real name of nicknamed players or streamers, by chat message or voice chat, is now a punishable offense.

# Cosmetics

Loot Crates are back in Season 3! Head over to the right side of the lobby to purchase Valentines Crates for gems, which offer a bunch of exclusive valentines day cosmetics including the extremely rare Heart Armor Trim and Pink Fox Pet! These crates will only stick around until the end of February, so make sure you don't miss out. 

The return of crates also means the return of shiny cosmetics! Find a Tier Boost inside a loot crate in order to unlock it's shiny mythical variant. All new cosmetics have shiny variants, and some old cosmetics shiny variants have been updated to be more vibrant. On the topic of shinies, it is now possible to preview a shiny cosmetics by shift clicking them in the Upgrade Cosmetics menu.

And of course, Season 3 features an all new Token Shop with all new rewards.

With all these new cosmetics we're adding, it only made sense you'll have some personal favorites. We've added the ability to Right Click cosmetics to favorite them, and the ability to select a random cosmetic. When this option is selected, your cosmetic will randomize between your favorites everytime it activates. 


# Battle Royale

Battle Royale has received a update this season, including enabling access to the End Dimension. Here are the Patch Notes for Battle Royale V1.5.0

## The End
The End dimension has been enabled. 
- Stronghold's have a 25% chance to spawn each match, like in previous seasons.
- When a Stronghold generated, between 10-11 Eye of Ender's will already be filled. 
- The dimension has a 500x500 world border
- When the dragon is defeated, the End Transporters will not spawn. Only the main end island is available to players. 
- When exiting The End through the portal, player's will spawn at the center of the map with their glider's deployed. 

## General Changes
- Fire Aspect now only lights enemies on fire if the attack is 90% charged.
- Nether structures odds changed to 55% bastion 25% citadel 20% fortress.
- Increased the rarity of Treasure Bastion chests in the Citadel 1%.
- Increased gold block replacement in Bastions from 40% to 60%.
- TNT minecart nerf has been reduced from 50% to 30%.
- The Nether Reactor Core now always spawns 1 Ancient Debris when placed near ores.
- Arrows and Iron are now only obtained from fishing with the Lucky Rod instead of all fishing rods.
- The rewards summary now displays whenever a player dies.
- The rewards summary now displays a visual progress bar of the player's level progress.
- Fixed a bug where civ teams could potentially be larger than 9.
- Fixed a bug where thrown Enderpearls would damage the user.

## Legendary Weapons

We've made many changes to legendary weapons this season, including our first round of weapon rotations. We've also made some major changes to some current weapons and their balancing.

Changes:
- The Enderbow, Dragon Katana, War Pick, Reaper Scythe have been rotated out. They are no longer attainable in Battle Royale mode.
- Added Sharpness 2 to Grimoire.
- Emerald Blade now receives +1 Sharpness at all times. When crafted, it is sharpness 1. After 8 emeralds, it becomes sharpness 2, etc.
- Changed Magma Blade to a Diamond Sword with no enchants.
- Sonic Crossbow cooldown increased to 22 seconds (was 15).
- Magma Blade can now be enchanted and used in an anvil.
- Adjusted Magma Blade's recipe.

New Weapons:
### Aiglos
A legendary elvish spear weapon. Aiglos has the attack speed and damage of a diamond sword, and can also be thrown to create an explosion. After aiglos lands, it instantly teleports back to the user. Enchants that are applied to Aiglos affect the damage and properties of the explosion.

### Shadow Blade
A legendary sword weapon. The Shadow Blade is a diamond sword with a special ability. Right Click to become invisible and gain speed III for 10 seconds. When invisible, only the particles at you feet can be seen. Taking damage or performing a critical hit on another player will cause the ability to cancel early.

### Void Staff
A legendary staff with two toggleable modes. The Void Staff's first mode is the teleportation mode. Right Click to create a portal where you're looking, and right click again to create a second portal. All entites are able to enter the portals to be instantly teleported to the location of the second portal.  The second mode is the Shulker Bullet mode. Right Click to fire a shulker shell, exploding where it lands dealing damage and giving all nearby players levitation for a few seconds. The explosion also spawns 3-5 shulker bullets that seek out enemies.

### Reinforced Elytra
A legendary (and balanced) wearable Elytra. The Reinforced Elytra provides the protection of an Iron Chestplate while worn. Players can glide to build up energy, then hit the ground to release that energy in the form of an explosion that does not damage the player. Sneaking midair activates a rocket boost ability similar to a firework rocket on a 70 second cooldown. ## Basic Crafts

This season we've added a some basic crafts to change the flow of the game, including the first few sets of custom armors. Unfortunately because of how custom armor is implemented, resource packs that have abnormally sized armor pieces or include built in shaders will no longer function properly.

## Short Netherite Sword
A simple sword that provides +7.5 attack damage by default. 1x crafts.

## Neptune's Brew
A drinkable dolphins grace potion with a 30 second duration. 2x crafts.

## Agony
A splash potion of instant damage II and weakness I (60 seconds). 1x crafts

## Cactus Armor
Armor set with a high level of thorns, equivalent to iron armor.

## Mushroom Armor
Leather armor set that is slightly worse than iron, but when the full set is worn, the armor's protection enchantment level becomes stronger as the amount of skylight touching the player decrease, up to Protection V.

## Ent Armor
Leather armor set slightly worse than iron, that when the full set is worn grants a 5% chance to heal the user for half a heart when breaking a naturally grown flowers.

## Horsetamer Boots
A pair of chainmail boots that grant Speed I to a horse being ridden by the player

A pair of golden leggings that cause 50% more gold nuggets to drop from kills.

# Duels

Duels has received major changes this season. Custom Kit menus have been revamped, queueable kits have been changed, and the lobby has been revamped. 

## Legendaries
First lets talk about legendaries.
- Legendary weapons that have been rotated out of Battle Royale are still available for use in custom kit duels.
- The four new legendaries will be added to duels in coming weeks, but not at the season start.
- **All player's can now use legendary weapons in custom kits**

## Modes

We now have 10 queueable modes in the casual playlist:

- Removed Roulette Royale
Roulette Royale is still available as a custom kit preset. Upon joining the duels lobby, you will be prompted on how to create a Roullette Royale kit.
- Added Battle Royale Kit
This kit contains the same items as Roulette Royale, but without the Legendary Weapons.
- Added Parkour Duels
Race other players through a dynamic parkour map designed by iTMG. Miss a jump and you lose, but be careful not to be so slow you get caught by the dragon pursuing you.
- Added Bridge Duels
Players spawn at opposite sides of a large bridge. Enter the opponents goal to score. First player to score 5 times wins.
- Added Boxing Duels
Players take no damage and only have a diamond sword, and speed 1. The first player to hit the other 75 times wins.

All new modes support being used as a custom kit preset. This means you can create bridge kits with legendary weapons, etc.

## Menus

Custom Kit hosting has undergone some large changes.

- Custom kits now contain settings for how many players per team, map, and amount of rounds in the match.
- Custom kits created from presets now inherit the settings of the preset.
- Players can select what kit is their active kit to be hosted in the kit editor. When clicking the host kit button, the player automatically hosts their selected kit, making the custom kit hosting process much quicker.

We've also made several quality of life changes to the custom kit editor:
- Added the ability to right click in the custom kit editor to duplicate the most recently selected item.
- Added the option to randomly select a map in custom kits and the /duel menu.
- Added TNT and TNT Minecrarts as potential custom kit icons.
- Added emoji support to kit names

# General changes
- Doubled XP rates for all modes.
- Added a new map category, Vanilla, These 3 new maps contain natural terrain, cut from natural Battle Royale worlds.
- The Crystal casual queue now only put players into vanilla maps instead of terrain maps.
- Added the ability to /spectate players. You can control who can spectate your matches between everyone, friends, or no one via /settings.
- Custom Kit Stats now properly track, and are shown on leaderboards.
- You can now shift click an option in the quick play menu to make that category open first when the quick play menu is opened.

Hoplite Season 3 has arrived

# General

- Golden Apples now grant Regeneration II for 10 seconds.
- Defence political path now grants 3x prot I books.
Defence's pick rate was much higher than we hoped for, and the ability for players to start the match with full Protection 3 if they had a coordinated team was far too strong.
- Removed Brutes from Bastions and Citadels.
- Added Warden spawns to Citadels.
- Increased diamond spawn rates in Citadel chests.
- Changed nether structure odds to 33% of each structure type.
The idea behind adding brutes was to make the gameplay more intense and more risky. However this caused a higher amount of player deaths before pvp than we had hoped for. This change should make the nether slightly easier for less skilled players, and prevent skilled players from entering pvp with multiple player heads.
- Added anti-queue matchmaking penalty to solo. 
Like Civ, when you reach 3 matchmaking penalties, you become unable to queue for 15 minutes. This change along with the nether changes are intended to make solo games maintain higher player counts at pvp.
- Adjusted Ares Blessing loot table slightly.
- Added Efficiency 3+ back to miner at the levels that previously had it.
- Added cow and chicken spawns to swamps, deserts, badlands, and arctic regions.
- Arrow shots greater than 50 blocks away now broadcast in chat.
- Fixed a bug where partys larger than 3 players could get on the same team in Civ
- Added a title to the player's screen when they die.
- Lunar team view now colors party members blue and the king yellow. 

# World Gen

- Removed naturally occuring Ancient Debris in the nether.
- Reduced squid and pufferfish spawn rates.
- Fixed a bug where Amethyst Geodes would spawn at predetermined coordinates across the world.
- Fixed a bug where caves wouldn't spawn properly in Swamp biomes.
Due to how the world generation works, it may take a few days to cycle out maps generated before these changes were implemented.

# Crafts / Weapons

- Prevented lucky rod gold/diamond drops from replacing loot if the loot result is a bow or an enchanted book.
- Fixed a bug where Artemis Bow did not trigger Archer's perk.
- Removed custom book and quill recipe that allowed the item to be crafted with a glow ink sac.
- Removed Sharpness, Thorns, and Swift Sneak from Grimoire
- Reduced Fire Aspect on Grimoire to level 1.
- Changed Poseidon's Treasure to an instabook.
- Increased Pufferfish Cannon damage multiplier to 3x. (was 2x)
- Increased Sonic Crossbow damage to 9.0 (was 6.0)
- Dragon Katana now costs 1x Netherite Scrap and 2x obsidian to craft. (was 2x scrap, 1x obsidian)
- Dragon Katana now crafts with 1 teleport charge.
- Magma Blade increased to Sharpness 3. (was 2)
- Reaper Scythe can now only siphon a max of 3 hearts from a single mob.
- Fixed a bug where Fountain of Fate's secondary potion effect was not removed when the fountain was broken.
- Fixed a bug where punching with Artemis Bow would trigger a projectile damage message.
- Increased Emerald Sword's max Sharpness level to 50.

 ## Battle Royale v1.4.3 

This week we have a smaller patch for Battle Royale as we prepare for some larger changes in the coming weeks. 

- Reenabled multi biome structure. (The original temples and the tree)
- Fixed Artemis Bow not trigger the archer class perk.
- Fixed crafting short sword/bow not giving the upgraded sharpness/power enchantments.
- Fixed loyalty tridents following spectators.
- Fixed boats being placed during DM countdown.
- Changed Poseidon's Treasure recipe to include 1x water bucket and 4x sea grass, and removed nautilus shell.
- Re-added trident damage buff at 1.25x.
- Fixed a bug where players could damage their teammates with tnt minecarts.
- TNT minecart damage has been reduced by 50%.

Hoplite Patch Notes - Jan. 12th, 2024

This patch will be addressing some gameplay changes in Battle Royale and bug fixes and performance optimizations in Duels. Some active Battle Royale games may not reflect the new patch as the update is rolling out.

**Battle Royale v1.4.1**
- Removed the Loyalty enchant from Tridents
- Removed the Trident 2x damage buff
- Added a 3 second cooldown for Trident throws
- NEW **Poseidon's Treasure** item. A basic craft found in the Recipe Book that is an enchanted book with Loyalty I. Can be crafted once.
- Reduced the rate of diamonds, ancient debris, netherite scraps, and netherite ingots in Citadels.
- Removed nether wart from Citadel chests
- Fixed a bug where time-based leaderboard filters would not work and display "Unknown User"
- Fixed a bug where the personal entry for BR leaderboards wouldn't switch after changing filters

**Duels v1.0.1**
- Players can no longer dodge matches, if you leave a game during countdown you will lose the match
- Fixed a bug where ender pearls damage wasn't enabled
- Fixed a bug where players would take damage in Sumo
- Fixed a bug where parties of two would not get on the same teams in Casual 2v2s
- Fixed a bug where players would not receive the Play Again item in Casual 2v2s
- Fixed a bug where non-VIP players would not receive Legendary Weapons in Custom Kit Duels
- Fixed a bug where players would sometimes take damage on the last tick prior to being sent back to the lobby
- We've done a few things to optimize Duels performance. We'll continue monitoring performance 

**General**
- Fixed a bug were personal entries on the leaderboard would sometimes displaying a completely random player
- Fixed a bug where players could not hold two times at once on both the Battle Royale and Duels Lobby Parkour leaderboards

**Rule Changes**

- Render distance fog customizer/removal mods in the Overworld or Nether are allowed. (this does NOT include removing fog under lava)
- All of our rules apply to Duels, and some rules are for Duels specifically. Please keep in mind of this when playing the newly available mode.

# Battle Royale Update v1.4.0
### General
- Added Citadel structures to the nether. Citadels are massive structures containing tons of mob spawners and loot from both bastions and fortresses. Four different Citadel structures exist. Chests and spawners are not guarenteed to spawn at every location everygame. Every Citadel contains a vault room, which randomizes between having gold ores or potion materials.
- Nether structures now have a chance to be 50% Citadels, 25% Bastions, 25% Fortresses.
- Added Piglin Brutes back to Bastions.
- Replaced 50% of gold blocks in Bastions with gilded blackstone.
- Added natural mob spawning to nether fortresses.
- Increased Ancient City spawn rate to 40%.
- Increased chance of rare drops from Lucky Rods.
- Adjusted Ares Blessing loot table.
- Added diamonds as a possible rare drop from Lucky Rods.
- Added arrows and iron ingots as possible fishing drops.
- Shortswords and Shortbows now upgrade to Sharpness II 12 minute after pvp is enabled and upgrade to Sharpness III when deathmatch begins.
- The Trident craft now comes with Loyalty I.
- Increased thrown Trident damage by 1.5x
- Removed price increase on diamond armor villager trades. The second diamond armor trade will still see an increase in price.
- Added slimeblocks to Trapper kit.
- Added 30 new biome specific structures.
- Fixed a bug where King's Crown could grant infinite health.
- Fixed a bug where heads could duplicate when worn by a mob that was killed.
- Fixed a bug where trapper perk wouldn't work if only one block was in the stack.
### Weapons
- Grimoire: Added Power IV, Swift Sneak III, Thorns III to Grimoire.
- Grimoire: Reduced Grimoire sharpness to I.
- Fountain of Fate: Now always grants Regeneration.
- Fountain of Fate: Removed chance to deal instant damage
- Fountain of Fate: Now grants a randomized secondary potion effect.
- Fountain of Fate: Recipe now requires cobblestone instead of stone bricks.
- Reaper Scythe: Health Syphon increased to 20%
- Sonic Crossbow: Now deals 6.0 true damage at the center of the explosion

# Full Duels Release
Duels has now fully released to **all players**! Duels is a classic gamemode from all eras of Minecraft where players are able to clash head-to-head in intense battles with unique kits. Face off in 1v1s, 2v2s, or even play in a group of friends with a party!

We’ve collected the best features from all renditions of Duels gamemodes from other servers in the past and combined them into one ultimate and feature-complete version of Duels. Our Duels is not just a place to fight players, but a sandbox experience where players can tailor their gameplay to what they’d like, whether that you love competing and climbing the leaderboards or like to goof off and play silly modes with friends.

### Modes and Gameplay

In the Duels lobby, players are able to join queues for kits that they would like to play. Once joining a duel, players are matched up against each other with the same kit and items and duel each other in a battle of skill!

Players have the option of playing the following modes: **Casual Duels, Custom Kit Duels, or Private Duels**. Ranked isn’t here yet, but will be coming in a future update!

#### Casual Duels
In Casual, queue with regular kits against other players. Win games and go on winstreaks to earn XP, which can level up your **overall XP** and **kit XP** (more on that later).

In Casual, you can play **1v1s** or **2v2s**. In 2v2s, you can play with another friend in a party or even get a random teammate!

#### Custom Kit Duels
In Custom Kit Duels, host a custom kit 1v1 duel with your own custom kit or play with other players in their custom kits!

In the Custom Kit Duels menu, you can look at other players that are hosting their own duels. 

You can even preview what is in their kit before deciding to join it.

If you’d like to host your own custom kit with your own rules, you can click the “Host Duel” button and run through the options to host your own for others to play!

To see how to edit your own custom kits, see below in the ‘Kit Editor’ section.

#### Private Duels
Players can play in Private Duels with their party! In your party of up to 20 players, play duels with different team modes and choose from regular kits or custom kits!

As the party leader, you can decide the modes to take your party into.

For the teamsizes, you can select from **FFA**, **Team Split of 2**, or **Party vs. Leader**.

For the kits, you can choose regular kits or your own custom kit. You can choose a normal and competitive kit, or let mayhem ensue with chaotic items in your custom kit with up to 20 players!

#### Personal 1v1 Duels

You can send a personal 1v1 duel invite by doing **/duel <player>** to another player on the server to fight them directly. Select from a regular kit or your own custom kit.

### Kit Editor

A core feature of Duels that makes it what it is, the **Kit Editor**!

The Kit Editor allows players to edit kits. You can edit the layout of regular kits or edit custom kits with our intuitive and in-depth menu system.

Clicking on any kit in the editor will take you to the Kit Editor area.

#### Editing Regular Kits

Editing regular kits is easy. Move around items within your inventory to the format you want them to be in, then save using the NPC. Players are also able to edit their kit by moving items around during the starting countdown of an actual duel.

#### Editing Custom Kits

Edit a custom kit and customize every single item, piece of armor, enchant, and even kit settings!

All players have 4 custom kit slots by default. You can edit a different custom kit in each one and play whichever kit whenever, without having to preselect in a different menu. Click on a Custom Kit slot in the Kit Editor to edit it!

### Levels

Players can play in duels to level up their overall level, similar to Battle Royale. However, there are also **kit levels**, which can be obtained by playing the specific kits for those levels. There are kit levels for every kit available in Casual, as well as a Custom Kit level, which can be leveled up by playing in Custom Kit duels!

All players start by having their overall level displayed, but if you want to show off a different level, you can open the levels menu and click on the kit that you’d like to display. Your level display will upudate in chat and in your nametag.

### Level Up the Battle Pass

While playing games, you can also earn Battle Pass XP and level up the Battle Pass! Through the Battle Pass, you can earn Battle Royale cosmetics, like hats and gliders, to stand out more and look cool while playing. More on the Battle Pass can be found here!

# New Cosmetic Bundle: The Dragon Bundle
**The Dragon Bundle** now comes to Hoplite as our first directly purchaseable cosmetic bundle! This bundle contains the Dragon Hat, the Dragon Glider, the Dragon's Breath kill effect, the Dragon Rider victory dance, and the Baby Ender Dragon pet!
Mystery Crates are gone for now, but don't worry, they will return for our next event!

Season 2 Mid-Season Update

# Battle Royale v1.3.0

## General
- Added Matchmaking Penalties:
Leaving a solo game before is pvp enabled or intentionally dying before pvp enables will cause the player to receive 50% less currencies in the next game. 
Leaving a civ game before is pvp enabled or intentionally dying before pvp enables will cause the player to receive 50% less currencies in the next game. If the player causes a penalty to be added 3 games in a row, the player will be unable to queue into a civ match for the next 15 minutes. 
Currencies are Coins, XP, Battle Pass XP.
Dying as intended in a game after the pvp phase is reached will remove all penalties.
If a penalty is added in civ mode due to a death, being respawned by the Revival Star will remove that penalty.
Because of the nature of tracking intentional deaths, sometimes penalties may be inaccurately added. We'll keep a close watch on this system and make adjustments to make it as fair as possible.
- Mysticism Political Path now grants an Enchanting Table to the King.
- Made several optimizations to different areas of the game to reduce lag.
- Fixed a bug where players could get stuck deploying their glider if the dragon spawned near the border.
- Added thunder sounds in the sky when a player dies.
- King's crown now only grants extra health to the King if the King's Crown is worn. The King's Crown will not give non King players extra health.
- Set all Vanilla recipes to be unlocked so all recipes can be searched for via the vanilla crafting guide.

## Class Changes
- Nerfed Miner pick to Efficiency 2 at all levels. This means it can no longer instabreak netherrack.
- Added Power 1 to Archer bow.
- Made Archer bow able to be used in an anvil.
- Warrior Perk now regenerates 3 hearts on kill (was 2).

## Legendaries
- Improved Lich Staff projectile visuals
- Made silk touch tools take 50% durability damage when mining an ice block.
This should limit the amount of lich staffs that can be crafted when finding one Silk Touch book.
- Changed Reaper Scythe to copy potion effects instead of stealing them.
- Changed Pufferfish Cannon damage multiplier to 2x (was 3x).
- Changed Pufferfish Cannon cooldown to 20 seconds (was 10).
The Pufferfish cannon works by multiplying the damage Pufferfish deal by a factor the first time a player is damaged by the pufferfish, so this change should maintain its utility as a crowd control / anti-running weapon without being overbearing like it was before.
- Fixed a bug where Mjolnir would deal extra melee damage when it's cooldown was active.
This Mjolnir change was hotfixed in earlier this week.
- Fixed a bug where the Magma Club could be used on loggers.

Hoplite Patch Notes - Dec.14th, 2023

# Battle Royale v1.1.0

## General
- Golden Apple healing has been increased!
- Regeneration 1 now heals the player for **0.5 health** every **37 ticks** (was 50). In Vanilla, regeneration 1 heals every 50 ticks. Regeneration 2 heals every 25 ticks. This buff should result in healing that still cannot be chugged, but can still heal you fast enough to keep you in the fight. Due to this change, golden apples heal for less duration, but heal the same amount of health.
- Arrows now shoot more accurately while moving
- Corrected some errors with structure spawning
- Corrected an issue preventing the Autumn team from appearing in civ matches
- Deathmatch border now deals **1 heart** per border tick. (was .25 hearts)
- Fixed a bug where Santa would spawn in the nether

## Weapons
**Midas Sword**
- Fixed a bug where gold nuggets wouldn't drop from mobs before pvp begins
- Reduced the amount of gold nuggets dropped by mobs

**Fountain of Fate**
- Chance of each fountain type is now **60% good, 40% bad**. (was 50/50)
- Instant damage reduced to **10 heart**s (was 20)

# Battle Royale v1.0.0

## Battle Royale
- Tracker Pack wolves health has been reduced to 7
- Villager Diamond armor trades now cost more emeralds and can only be traded with once per villager refresh.
- Added 3 second delay before play again button can be pressed after dying
- Deathmatch border now shrinks to 2 blocks wide
- Deathmatch border is now centered at the center of 00 instead of the corner
- Dragons will now destroy blocks in their path at the start of the game
- Fixed some quests not tracking
- Fixed weekly quests not resetting
- Fixed some duplication glitches with cobwebs
- Nicknames will no longer show your real star level
- Players are now extinguished when pvp phase begins
- Players can no longer take damage during the deathmatch countdown
- Players who die outside the border will now have their items teleported 10 blocks inside the border
- Removed Wizards

## Legendary Weapon Updates
- Fixed a bug where the Enderbow could be used during the deathmatch countdown
- Enderbow is now power 3
- Dragon Katana can now hold 3 charges (was 2)
- Dragon Katana recipe now takes 2x netherite scrap and 1x obsidian. (was 1x netherite scrap, 2x obsidian)
- Midas Sword now always upgrades sharpness on it's two first kills
- Emerald Sword now takes less emeralds to upgrade early sharpness levels and more for later sharpness levels
- Fixed a bug where Reaper Scythe's ability could activate from far distances
 
## New Legendaries
- **Fountain of Fate:** Place to spawn a fountain that has a 50% chance to be positive or negative, if positive it gives nearby players regen 2 and gives players who were next to it at the moment it was placed absorption V. If negative, gives wither 2 to nearby players and gives players who were next to it at the moment it was placed instant damage 3. Lasts 5 minutes after placed
- **Gerald the Sniffer:** Summons a sniffer that walks around for a bit before digging up a random legendary weapon
- **War Pick:** Diamond pick. Destroying blocks creates a 3x3 explosion, 5 seconds cooldown. Critting a player has a chance (33%) to deal massive damage to a random piece of armor, dealing more damage to higher rarity gear. 15 second cooldown
- **Magma Club:** Sharp 2 iron sword. Chance to catch enemies on fire if the attack is fully charged, grants fire resistance while held

## Holiday Update
- Added surprise presents while mining. Destroy ores to have a chance to spawn a Christmas Present, which will drop early game materials when destroying.
- Added Santa Supply Drops. Over the course of the match, Santa will drop supply drops of high tier loot at locations on the map. All player's receive a Santa Tracker item that lead you to the location of the last drop.
- Added Candy Canes, obtainable from Santa supply drops. Consume a candy cane to regain 2 hearts instantly.
- Solo mode now has a Holiday themed biome at the center of every map, with candy canes and a massive Tree.

## World Gen Update
- Sugar cane now spawns in more biomes
- Added Autumn civ team and biome
- Revamped Arctic region biomes to be less flat and have more trees
- Added more mob spawns to some biomes that were lacking some animal types
- Added Holiday biome to 00 in solo
- Added more 00 biome variation. This change will be seem after the holiday season is over.
- Added water and lava columns in caves
- Removed water puddles that could intersect with mineshafts
- Adding dripping water and lava inside caves.
- Added trees to the mushroom biome
- Added 10 new region based structures

# Battle Royale v0.6.0

## Battle Royale Changes

This week, we're focusing on level progression and general bug fixes.

### General Changes

- Added Play Again button to player's hotbars after they die.
- Increased speed 2 velocity to **35%** (was 30%).
- XP per level up has been changed to **3000** per level (was 2000). - Most player's levels will be reduced due to this change.
- Revamped XP gain sources to be more rewarding to playtime.
- Added XP reward for petting the dragon.
- Defence path now grants **1x prot 2 book** and **2x prot 1 book** (was 3x prot 2). - This change was hotfixed in earlier this week.
- Replaced Trapper kit observer's with dripstone.

### General Bug Fixes

- Fixed a bug where totems would fail to activate when receiving a killing blow from some legendaries and the deathmatch border.
- Fixed a bug where Ares Blessing would fail to produce an item if it was spawned inside a block.
- Fixed a bug where assists wouldn't track properly in Civilization.
- Fixed a bug where voting for yourself wouldn't grant King election XP.

### Weapon Changes

- Dragon Katana now gains **1 charge** on kill (was 2) and can hold a total of **2 charges** (was 3).
- Fixed a bug where Artemis Bow lightning wouldn't deal additional damage.
- Fixed a bug where Artemis Bow lightning could trigger without the bow being fully drawn.
- Fixed a bug where infinity books could be applied to Artemis Bow.
- Artemis Homing Arrows are no longer affected by enchantments.
- Fixed a bug where Reaper Scythe could be triggered at range when throwing Mjolnir.
- Fixed a bug where Reaper Scythe could steal potion effects from non player mobs.

# Battle Royale v0.5.0 & QoL Updates
## Battle Royale Changes

The focus of this Battle Royale patch is balancing Civilization king election paths and bug fixes.

### General Changes

- Reduced power nerf from 25% to **20%** - this means that Power bows have had their damage increased, again
- In Civilization, the Mysticism path’s randomly enchanted books now include better enchantment possibilities
- In Civilization, the Mysticism path now also provides an anvil
- In Civilization, the Defense path now provides **3x Protection 2 books** (was 1x Protection II and 1x Projectile Protection II)
- Looter kit spider eyes and glow ink sacs levels are swapped, granting glow ink sacs at level 1 and spider eyes at level 3
- New and updated model for King's Crown
- Level progression at levels 100+ now requires 50% more XP compared to levels 0-100
- Proximity chat rewards bonus has been increased from 10% to **20%**
- Bottle o' Enchanting recipe has been changed from using 8x Lapis to 4x Lapis Blocks
- The Haste perk is no longer granted when breaking nether gold or quartz ore
- Deathmatch border shrink delay and shrink speed is faster
- Deathmatch border now has a second shrinking phase, 5 minutes after the first shrink finishes, the border will continue to shrink all the way, causing all players to take border damage forever
- We now have a few new solutions in place to tackle certain blacklisted modifications; moving forward you should see even LESS cheaters in every game

### General Bug Fixes

- Fixed a bug where head pickup priority would prevent picking up partial stacks of some items until the head was picked up
- Fixed a bug where breaking an empty furnace with a Smelter’s Pickaxe would grant XP
- Fixed a bug where players reaching a star prestige (level 100, 200, etc.) would not upgrade their prestige color until the level after
- Fixed a bug where players in Solo would spectate a random player rather than the player that killed them
- Fixed a bug where the Smelter’s Pickaxe could be used in an anvil
- Fixed a bug where spectral arrows could damage teammates
- Fixed a bug where right clicking a chest with a head or golden head would eat the head rather than open the chest
- Fixed a bug where you could warp party members that didn’t play into your game as spectators
- Fixed a bug where opening a chest in a shipwreck containing a map would lag the server
### Weapon Changes

- Reduced Lich Staff frostball damage
- Lich Staff now always replaces blocks to blue ice instead of normal ice
- Reaper Scythe cooldown increased from 22 -> **30 seconds**
- Enderbow cooldown reduced from 45 -> **35 seconds**
- Pufferfish Cannon cooldown reduced from 15 -> **10 seconds**

### Weapon Bug Fixes

- Fixed a bug where a Totem of Undying would not activate if hit with a fatal blow from Artemis Bow lightning or Mjolnir throw

## QoL Changes & General Bug Fixes

- Players can now acquire VIP rank in the main Discord server as long as they do /link in-game and link their Discord account
- Improved/revamped a few textures and GUIs, like the Gift Box and the Victory icon displayed when winning in Battle Royale
- Halved the cooldown between click actions in the friends menu
- Fixed a bug where weekly quests would reset everyday. This fix won’t go out immediately and will instead be fixed 4-12 hours after this patch has been posted
- Fixed a bug where lobbies would appear out of order in the Lobby Selector GUI
- Fixed a bug where clicking the next page in the Friend Requests GUI didn’t work
- Fixed a bug where nicked players would have their nicked names shown on the leaderboards
